Throughout Pennsylvania and right here in Philadelphia, millions of people are suddenly without jobs or are making do with reduced hours. It is an unprecedented economic crisis which has created an environment where difficulty making a mortgage or rental payment is an unavoidable reality.

Philadelphia Unemployment Project is committed to helping people navigate the various Philadelphia city, Pennsylvania state, and Federal assistance programs. We help people apply for and receive assistance through the programs below. Pandemic Mortgage Assistance Program:
(Deadline to apply September 30th, 2020)
The Pandemic Mortgage Assistance Program (PMAP) has recently become available. PMAP is a grant that can help pay past and future missed mortgage payments up to $1,000/month for any month from March to December 2020 (limit: 6 months). The program has several qualification criteria, and we urge you to get in touch via this form if you need any help in your application. Covid-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program:
The City of Philadelphia is helping renters stay in their homes through emergency rental assistance to help tenants who have lost income due to COVID-19. Phase 2, is currently accepting applications. If you need assistance with your rent, even if you applied during Phase 1 of the program, you should apply to Phase 2. Residential Mortgage Foreclosure Diversion Program:
Adopted in 2008, this program is designed to prevent residential owner-occupied homes from proceeding to Sheriff’s Sale and to help homeowners stay in their homes. Click here for more information and/or complete the form on this page.
