For over 40 years, the Philadelphia Unemployment Project has concentrated on helping mortgagors who are delinquent on mortgage payments.
This includes mortgage delinquency counseling, loss mitigation counseling, predatory lending counseling, rental counseling, and first-time homebuyer counseling and education.
Our counseling includes resolving mortgage delinquency and preventing foreclosure within the City’s Mortgage Foreclosure Diversion Program, representing homeowners in appeals when they are denied assistance through the Homeowners Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program, and providing real estate tax delinquency counseling to avoid tax foreclosure.
Post-foreclosure and post-purchase counseling are also provided for every homeowner who obtained a positive resolution in order to ensure continued success.
Our agency also provides rental and eviction prevention counseling, collaborating with the City’s Eviction Diversion Program and PHDC’s rental assistance program.
Our trained housing counselors provide in person, remote, and telephone counseling on an individual basis. First-time homebuyer education workshops are also held when demand is high because of the availability of home purchase assistance programs.
